Abstract:The aim of this research was to analyse whether the employees of the Wittekindshof Gronau, an institution for persons with a mental and/or a physical disability, experience satisfaction in done their worn. Another important aspect was to answer questions about the quality of work. The advices and opinions of the employees which concern to their labour situation and satisfaction were central aspects. For realising this research you need a qualitative and quantitative method of analyse. First of all, the respondents (n = 103) had filled in the Utrechtse Bevlogenheidschaal (UBES), which is a questionnaire about work satisfaction. The work quality is evaluated due to the Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ). In addition to that, the respondents got the possibility to specify and remote what they think about their work situation and satisfaction. They could do it by answering an open question. The answers were evaluated thematically by conducting a qualitative coding scheme. The employees of the Wittekindshof Gronau scored average regarding work satisfaction. However, the quality of work was above the common run. Additionally the analysis shows that they need changes in their circumstances at work. Above all else the employees made wishes for more salary, more staff and more supervisor support. Generally, the answers to the question about advices for changes have been responded in a negative way. The employees criticised more than giving constructive suggestions. This could be the answer of a great need for changes. On the basis of the results one could get an illogical image of the job situation at the Wittekindshof Gronau. Even though the employees scored in the midrange field of work satisfaction and a little bit better in quality of work, one can conclude that there are lots of possibilities to improve the work environment. Based on these results one can make the recommendations that the supervisors and employees, should develop a plan to intervene and improve the job situation. In doing so, they have to keep in mind what the employees wish for. Through a restructuring which is based on a positive psychology the work satisfaction and the quality of work could be upgraded.
