Abstract:JCC Software off ers their customers a timetable program, called G-ROOSTER. This program is mainly meant for municipalities to support them by scheduling their employees. G-ROOSTER uses a graphical planning board, when scheduling. Within the scope of this bachelor assignment a redesign of the planning board is made. A heuristic evaluation of the current planning board, questionnaires with users and a function analysis are performed. The points for improvement that emerged are translated into a program of adjustments. A signifi cant problem is the week view of the current planning board. It is too small to work with and to see all the important information properly. Next to this problem some smaller problems were discovered. All the problems are incorporated in a program of adjustments, which is used for the redesign. Next to the demands of the users there was also an important demand from JCC Software. G-ROOSTER focuses on the municipality market but it should be possible for other markets to use the program as well. During the redesign it is taken into consideration that G-ROOSTER does not meet very specifi c demands from the municipalities. It is for example possible to set the time that is displayed in the timetable, this depends on the working hours of the company/institution. Moreover the period of days that is displayed next to the day view can be set. For municipalities this period is fi ve days, because they have a fi ve-day working week. For other companies/ institutions this period could diff er. During the redesign a closer look at the earlier executed competitor analysis has been taken. The focus was on the diff erences between G-ROOSTER and competitive products. These diff erences are applied to G-ROOSTER and it is determined whether or not they are an improvement. Furthermore the list with functions in the planning board is used to make a redesign. Some functions are regrouped, removed or added to create a more logical division of the functions. Further all the points mentioned in the program of adjustments are specifi ed by sketches. This way diff erent possibilities for the adjustments are considered. The most important adjustments, the adjustments that infl uence the structure/ construction of the planning board, are displayed in a morphological schedule. By making diff erent combinations within the morphological schedule the three concepts are created. By performing a usage test it is determined which concept or which aspects of the concepts fi ts best to the demands of the municipalities. The results of the usage tests are discussed with colleges of JCC Software. In this way the opinion and the interests of JCC Software are taken into account during the redesign. The work and the employees screens are separated in the end design, this results in a more conveniently arranged planningboard. Further the time scale is displayed in the work and employees screen, in the day as well as in the week view. By clicking once on the day in the week view, the day is enlarged. By double clicking on the day the day view will be opened. After the description of the end design some graphical propositions are created. The graphic style used in other programs from JCC Software is applied to G-ROOSTER. Next to this more uniformity within the application is created. In the end some conclusions and recommendations about the (graphical) end concept and possible continued redesign are given.
