Abstract:	This study investigated how students in primary school assess a product, in this study a mindmap, of an unknown classmate and which factors of this classmate and properties of the student influence this assessment. The focus of this research was on the perceived credibility (perceived intelligence, domainexpertise and the trust in the classmate) of the maker of the mindmap and how students perceive their own intelligence (influenced by others and the perceived own domain expertise). In both situations the influence on the takeover of (incorrect) information has been measured. This experimental field study included 146 students in four different classes. All students worked individually on a mindmap in which they had to answer questions about the earthworm. After this they were able to change the answers in their mindmap upon the mindmap of an unknown classmate. Each student was subscribed to one of the two conditions: a mindmap with all correct answers and a mindmap with all incorrect answers. The findings indicate that students assessed the expertise of the maker of the mindmap with all correct answered higher than the mindmap with all incorrect answers. The perceived credibility of the maker of the mindmap was hereby a good predictor of the amount of takeovers. The findings concerning the perceived own intelligence indicate that boys and above average intelligent students assessed their own intelligence as higher than girls and average and under average intelligent students. The results indicate that the perceived own intelligence has no influence on the amount of (incorrect) overtakes.
