Abstract:The aim of this research is to determine what the impact is of the fireworkcampaign around the turn of the year, on the behaviour and the associated components of parents and their children. This research is conducted for Halt Twente and Oost-Brabant. The questionnaires are spread under young people between 11 and the 14 years and their parents. In sum, 577 young people and 142 parents completed the questionnaire. The questionnaires have been based on the Theory or Planned Behaviour (TPB; Ajzen, 1991) with the added components risk perception and knowledge. The results indicate that the fireworkcampaign has been assessed positively. Moreover, there have been found significant differences between the young persons and parents in relation to an intensive and less intensive fireworkcampaign. Also there is a difference in the influence of psychological components between young people and parents on firework behaviour. By means of the outcomes of this research, the implications of (unsafe) firework behavior can be discussed and can be possibly adapt to the fireworkcampaign of Halt to achieve more success.
