Abstract:	It is widely published that both private and governmental organizations have difficulties with successfully managing IT projects. The main factors that influence the success or failure of a project can be classified as either hard or soft. Hard factors are described as measurable factors such as functional requirements or budget restrictions. The soft (also social or human) factors include the interaction and relational factors between project partners. The objective of this research is to develop a method that provides attention to the soft factors in order to improve the project success. The designed method provides guidelines to improve the relationships and interaction in large IT projects. Hence, the following hypothesis is formulated: The concept of reflection used as a method to improve the collaboration of project partners by focusing on soft factors, adds value to the success of large and complex IT projects contracted by the central government to commercial system developers
