Abstract:This study examined which influence work related conflicts (task- and process conflicts) had on team performance. Furthermore, it was explored whether team trust, constructive confrontation norms and third party problem solving had moderating effect on this relationship. The results of a questionaire among 154 employees of an insurance company suggests that task and process conflict have negative effects on team performance. If task and (or) process conflicts are present, team performance decreases. Furthermore, constructive confrontation norms had little effect on this relationship, it only improved the negative relationship between process conflict and team performance marginally. Third party problem solving had partial effects: it only improved the negative relationship between task conflict and team performance. Team trust has an overall positive effect: it improved the negative relationship between both task and process conflicts and team performance
