Abstract: | This masters’ assignment is about two important problems regarding (the organisation of) citizen participation in the Netherlands. Citizen participation, defined as non-electoral political participation of citizens, in which public decisions are at stake and government plays at least a small part, has been on the rise as a concept that could help solve numerous problems, like the (claimed) declining commitment of citizens to communities and the public domain, the low trust in government, the ‘gap’ between citizens and government, and policy problems like crime |
