Abstract:The goal of this research is to demonstrate the added value of the multiple market model (MMM) while identifying, describing and explaning the differences between hospitals in the healt care market of Florida. Because of the contradicting reseults found in previous health care research we have formulated the research question: Why are non-profit hospitals more efficient than profit hospitals, while economic theory predicts profit hospitals are more efficient?
